STAR Flight EC-145 #2 (N378TC) hovers near a cliff face near Austin, TX. while Paramedic Bill Hansen is hoisted down to the rugged terrain below during a training exercise. Both STAR Flights EC-145s have Goodrich 44301 electric hoists rated at 600lbs capacity with 300 ft. cables mounted on the right side of the aircraft for rescues. Travis County's EC-145s were one of the first in the US to be configured for multi-mission profiles that include Air Ambulance/EMS to aerial firefighting and rescue/hoist. STAR Flight has performed many rescues of people stranded in low-water crossings or off cliff-faces that are inaccessable to others. STAR Flight's EC-145s can be quickly configured to perform a multitide of missions from Air Ambulance/EMS to aerial firefighting and rescue/hoist missions.
