(Second photo in a series of three) 1LT Russ "Redbone" Rotan drops two GBU-12, 500 lb. laser-guided bombs on a target at Avon Park Bombing Range in central Florida from F-16CJ, serial # 91-0376, of the 77th Fighter Squadron, 20th Fighter Wing during a 'Long-Rifle' mission from Shaw AFB, S.C. on 4 April, 2007. This jet carries a LANTIRN targeting pod on the right intake cheek mount in place of the Harm Targeting System (HTS) pod usually found there on F-16CJs. With most upgrades under the CCIP program complete this and other F-16s of the 20th FW can now carry targeting pods and self-designate targets to accomplish the Destruction of Enemy Air Defenses (DEAD) mission. Redbone wears a Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System helmet. © 2007 Greg L. Davis, Aviation Photojournalist cactusinburner@yahoo.com
